Here is my haul from Peter Lin of Diamond Orchids! These were photographed the day after I bought them from Peter!
The first orchid I snapped up was a Neofinetia Falcata 'Kinkujaku'. This variety has a light yellow that develops on the tops of the leaves when exposed to high light. They have ruby colored active root tips. To say this was a wish list plant is an understatement!
I just can't get enough of the Neofinita. They are great space-saving plants with incredible and fragrant blossoms that look like the honey suckle flowers from my childhood. In addition, there is a wide variance of their leaf shape, tuske, leaf size, root tip color, flower color and more. They are an intriguing orchid. Check out New Word Orchids for some more info on all these different aspects! I found their website and catalogue incredibly informative.
The second orchid I purchased from Peter, was a Dendrobium Golden Blossom ‘Marginata’. This is a hybridized plant with variegated margins (or edges) of a creamy white. I love the cane structures of dendrobiums, in general. But this dendrobium hybrid had a particularly JUICY looking cane morphology which I kinda crushed on hard. Plus, that variegation in the margin was particularly striking. Juicy, creamy... what's not to love?
"Get plants for the foliage. Blooms are just a bonus." is my personal motto when purchasing a new orchid, or any plant, really. Reason one being my love for foliage. Reason two being the fact I'm not sure if I'll be able to bloom something.
